Solar panels,
back to silicon

India's solar boom has an end-of-life side. Panels that have stopped working are not trash: they're glass, aluminium, copper, silver and high-purity silicon. We take apart end-of-life, damaged and rejected modules so those materials go back into use.

Where it comes from

Where solar
hides

  • 01

    End-of-life modules

Panels from plants and rooftops that have reached the end of their working life.

  • 02

    Damaged panels

Hail, storm, transport and installation damage, including insurance write-offs.

  • 03

    Repowering projects

Older modules replaced with newer, higher-output panels.

  • 04

    Manufacturing rejects

Off-spec modules and cells from production lines.

  • 05

    Silicon wafers & cells

Broken cells and wafer offcuts from module and cell makers.

How we recover it

Four steps,
no shortcuts

See the full extraction process →
  1. 01

    De-frame

The aluminium frame and junction box (with its copper cabling) are removed first.

  2. 02

    Separate the glass

The front glass, about three-quarters of the panel's weight, is separated from the laminated layers.

  3. 03

    Free the cells

Encapsulant and backsheet are removed to expose the silicon cells and their silver and copper conductors.

  4. 04

    Recover silicon & silver

Silver and copper are recovered and the silicon reclaimed, sent onward to certified partners where specialist refining is needed.

Questions

Solar FAQ

Can solar panels be recycled in India?+

Yes. Since the E-Waste (Management) Rules 2022, solar PV panels, modules and cells are covered. Their glass, aluminium, copper, silver and silicon can all be recovered through authorised recyclers.

What is the solar panel scrap price per kg?+

It depends on panel type, condition and quantity: intact frames and cables add value. Share module type, count and photos and we'll quote.

Do you buy damaged or broken solar panels?+

Yes. Cracked, storm-damaged and delaminated panels are recycled the same way; the materials inside are still recoverable.

Can you decommission a whole solar plant?+

Yes. We plan MW-scale pickups with on-site de-framing where useful, and provide weights and recycling documentation for your compliance records.

What are manufacturers' obligations for solar waste?+

Under the 2022 Rules, solar PV manufacturers and producers must register on the CPCB portal, keep an inventory, and store solar waste generated up to 2034-35 according to CPCB guidelines, then send it to authorised recyclers.
