Gold & precious
metal recovery

Precious metals in circuit boards are thin coatings and tiny contacts. Recovering them safely means grading, concentrating and refining under controlled conditions. It never means acid baths or open burning.

01 · In

A circuit board

Graded high, medium or low by its precious-metal content.

02 · Depopulated

Components come off first

Batteries, heat sinks and large parts are removed by hand.

03 · Concentrated

Gold contacts and pins gathered

Edge fingers, leads and pins carry the gold.

04 · Refined

Back to gold

Recovered in a controlled, assayed process. Never acid baths or open burning.

Step by step

From what arrives
to what leaves

  1. 01

    Grading

Boards are sorted into high, medium and low grade by type, since precious-metal content varies widely.

    Equipment
    Sorting benches, reference library
    Principle
Phone and server boards are richer than power-supply or TV boards.
    Output
    Graded board lots
  2. 02

    Depopulation

Batteries, heat sinks, steel brackets, large capacitors and cables are removed by hand first.

    Equipment
    Dismantling benches
    Principle
Removes hazards and dilution before any processing.
    Output
    Clean boards + separated components
  3. 03

    Size reduction

Boards are shredded and milled into fine particles under dust extraction.

    Equipment
    Shredder, hammer mill, dust collection
    Principle
Freeing the metal from the glass-fibre substrate.
    Output
    Board powder
  4. 04

    Physical separation

Magnets pull out steel, eddy currents eject aluminium, and density or electrostatic separation splits the metal concentrate from the fibre and resin.

    Equipment
    Magnetic, eddy-current & electrostatic separators
    Principle
Each material responds differently to magnetism, induced currents and charge.
    Output
    Metal concentrate + non-metal fraction
  5. 05

    Controlled refining

The concentrate is refined with emission controls: smelted so copper collects the precious metals, then electro-refined, or chemically processed in a closed system.

    Equipment
    Certified refinery processes
    Principle
Precious metals concentrate in the copper and in the residues of electrolytic refining.
    Output
    Gold, silver, palladium, copper, tin
  6. 06

    Assay & settlement

Precious-metal content is measured by assay, so pricing is based on what was actually recovered.

    Equipment
    Fire assay / XRF
    Principle
    Measured content, not guesswork.
    Output
    Assay report
Gold bars

Safety first

No burning. No acid baths. No shortcuts.

Informal recycling burns cables and dissolves boards in open acid, harming workers and neighbourhoods and wasting most of the metal. Every stage here is mechanical, controlled or done by certified refiners, and every load is weighed and documented.
